- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 apple, peeled and diced
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the diced apples gently.
- Preheat the waffle iron and spray it with non-stick spray.
- Pour the batter into the waffle iron, close the lid, and cook until golden brown (5-7 minutes).
- Remove the waffle donuts and dust them with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with powdered sugar or a drizzle of maple syrup or caramel. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days.
