Baby Bloomin’ Onions

Crispy and delicious Baby Bloomin’ Onions made from cipollini onions, perfect for sharing or snacking.

Ingredients

  • Cipollini onions
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel the cipollini onions and cut slits at the base without cutting all the way through.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Dip each onion into buttermilk, then coat well with the flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the onions for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Notes

Serve with dipping sauces like ranch dressing or garlic dip for an extra layer of flavor.
