- 1 loaf of bread (challah or brioche)
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Cut the bread into cubes and arrange half of it in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the blueberries over the bread.
- Add the remaining bread and top with the remaining blueberries.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and blueberries, ensuring all the bread is soaked.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm, drizzled with syrup if desired.
Notes
Use stale bread for better texture. For added flavor, mix in lemon zest or nutmeg.
