Chocolate Mousse Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a large mixing bowl and mix with sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for about 25 minutes.
  7. While cooling, melt the semi-sweet chocolate and let it cool slightly.
  8. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  9. Fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream gently.
  10. Spread the mousse over the cooled brownies and chill for at least 2 hours.
  11. Cut into squares to serve.

Notes

Best served chilled; can be garnished with berries or chocolate shavings.
