Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of brioche or challah bread
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

- Bake the soaked bread for 30-35 minutes or until golden and set in the middle.
- For the caramelized topping, sprinkle a thin layer of sugar over the top of the baked French toast and use a torch to caramelize it until bubbly and brown.
- Serve warm with fresh fruit if desired.
Notes
Use day-old bread for the best texture. Customize the sugar topping with flavored sugars or spices.
