French Toast Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread, cubed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well mixed.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the egg mixture and mix until the bread is well coated.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, combine the chopped nuts, melted butter, and brown sugar to create the crumble topping.
  6. Sprinkle the crumble on top of the bread mixture.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is golden and steaming.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes
