- 1 loaf of bread, cubed
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar

- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts)
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well mixed.
- Add the cubed bread to the egg mixture and mix until the bread is well coated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine the chopped nuts, melted butter, and brown sugar to create the crumble topping.
- Sprinkle the crumble on top of the bread mixture.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is golden and steaming.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Great for feeding a crowd and can be prepared ahead of time. Serve with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
