Gordon Ramsay’s Perfect Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 1.8 kg Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves (optional)
  • 75g melted salted butter
  • 240ml hot milk or cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place peeled, quartered potatoes and optional garlic in a pot of cold, salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes until tender.
  2. Drain the potatoes well, return them to the hot pot, and let them steam dry for 2 minutes. Add melted butter and begin mashing.
  3. Gradually pour in the hot milk, mashing gently until you reach your desired consistency. Season well with salt and pepper and serve immediately.

Notes

Garnish with fresh herbs like chives or parsley for an extra touch. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
