Irresistible Crispy Homemade Mozzarella Sticks

Homemade mozzarella sticks are a crunchy, gooey snack perfect for any occasion, served with marinara sauce.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups Panko
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 12 ounces low moisture mozzarella cheese (cut into pieces 3-inch x ¾ inch or string cheese cut in half)
  • Homemade marinara, for dipping
  • 1 quart vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in a shallow bowl.
  2. Beat eggs in a separate bowl.
  3. Combine Panko and Italian seasoning in a third bowl.
  4. Coat each mozzarella stick in the flour mixture, dip it in the beaten eggs, and then roll it in the Panko mixture.
  5. Freeze the coated sticks for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Fry the sticks in batches until golden brown, about 30 seconds per side.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve with warm marinara sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding fresh herbs or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top before serving. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
