- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups Panko
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 12 ounces low moisture mozzarella cheese (cut into pieces 3-inch x ¾ inch or string cheese cut in half)
- Homemade marinara, for dipping
- 1 quart vegetable oil
Instructions
- Mix flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in a shallow bowl.
- Beat eggs in a separate bowl.
- Combine Panko and Italian seasoning in a third bowl.
- Coat each mozzarella stick in the flour mixture, dip it in the beaten eggs, and then roll it in the Panko mixture.
- Freeze the coated sticks for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the sticks in batches until golden brown, about 30 seconds per side.
- Drain on paper towels and serve with warm marinara sauce.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding fresh herbs or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top before serving. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
