Oven Baked Chicken Breast

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter (diced)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and lightly grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish.
  2. Place the chicken breasts between plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness of about 0.5 to 0.75 inches.
  3. Rub the olive oil over the chicken breasts.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. Coat the chicken evenly with this seasoning mix.
  6. Arrange the seasoned chicken in the casserole dish and top each piece with a slice of butter.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. For extra browning, broil for an additional 1-3 minutes.

Notes

Pound the chicken to an even thickness for even cooking. Adjust cooking time if using skin-on chicken.
