Pan Seared Steak with Garlic Butter

A delicious and simple dish that brings out the rich flavors of the steak with a savory touch of garlic and butter.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ribeye steaks
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature, about 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat and add olive oil.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add the steaks to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time depending on thickness and desired doneness.
  5. Add the butter, garlic, and herbs to the skillet in the last minute of cooking and baste the steaks with the melted butter.
  6. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve with the garlic butter drizzled on top.

Notes

Make sure your skillet is very hot before adding the steaks for a good sear. You can also switch out ribeye for other cuts of steak, such as sirloin or T-bone.
