Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup Bisquick or all-purpose baking mix
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- Optional: ketchup, mustard, pickles for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into a greased 9-inch pie dish and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, and eggs until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the meat and cheese in the pie dish.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Serve with ketchup, mustard, or pickles if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, add garlic powder or paprika to the beef mixture. Other toppings like diced tomatoes or jalapeños can be mixed in before baking. For a crunch, consider adding crushed crackers or breadcrumbs on top.
