Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 ¾ cups warm milk (or water)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 9 cups water
- ½ cup baking soda
- 1 large egg (mixed with 1 tablespoon of water for the egg wash)
Instructions
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, warm milk, melted butter, and salt.
- Mix with a dough hook on medium speed for about 4-5 minutes until smooth. If the dough feels sticky, add a little extra flour.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30-60 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, boil 9 cups of water with the baking soda.
- Once your dough has risen, divide it into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into ¾-inch ropes and cut them into 1-2 inch segments.
- Carefully drop the bites into the boiling water for about 30 seconds, then transfer them to the prepared baking sheets.
- Brush each pretzel bite with the egg wash and sprinkle with salt.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes or until they are golden brown. Serve warm with honey mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.
