Pretzel Bites

Delicious homemade pretzel bites that are warm, chewy, and perfectly salted. Great for any occasion!

  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ cups warm milk (or water)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 9 cups water
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg (mixed with 1 tablespoon of water for the egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, warm milk, melted butter, and salt.
  2. Mix with a dough hook on medium speed for about 4-5 minutes until smooth. If the dough feels sticky, add a little extra flour.
  3. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30-60 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. In a large pot, boil 9 cups of water with the baking soda.
  6. Once your dough has risen, divide it into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into ¾-inch ropes and cut them into 1-2 inch segments.
  7. Carefully drop the bites into the boiling water for about 30 seconds, then transfer them to the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Brush each pretzel bite with the egg wash and sprinkle with salt.
  9. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until they are golden brown. Serve warm with honey mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

These pretzel bites are best served warm and can be paired with a variety of dips like honey mustard or cheese sauce. They can be stored in an airtight container for 2 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
