- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup warm water
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the vegetable oil and mix until crumbly.
- Gradually add warm water until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut into 2-inch squares or circles.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the dough pieces until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with honey.
Notes
Best served warm. Can be dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with honey. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days.
