- 3/4 cup warm water

Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add vegetable shortening and mix until crumbly.
- Gradually add warm water, kneading until a soft dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into triangles or circles.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat and fry the pieces until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm, optionally with honey or powdered sugar.
Notes
Ensure the oil is at the right temperature for frying and keep the dough covered while resting.
