Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices sourdough or white bread
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart for about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the onion and garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent (3-4 minutes).
  3. Season with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth; simmer until thickened (5-10 minutes).
  4. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  5. Preheat another skillet over medium heat.
  6. Place two slices of bread butter-side down, top with the beef mixture, then sprinkle the cheeses.
  7. Place the remaining slices of bread on top, butter-side up.
  8. Grill until golden brown and cheese melts (3-4 minutes per side).
  9. Slice sandwiches and serve warm with optional parsley garnish.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using a mix of your favorite cheeses or adding vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture.
